Plain fabric, medium weight
Fabric block printing ink
Ink tray
Plastic spoon
Sponge roller
Paper tape
Trick marker
Ruler
Hairdryer
Scrap paper
01 Cut your fabric into rectangles and mark out the print area within each by using the trick marker to draw a line for the seam allowance all the way around. Then use the ruler to mark a point every 2 to 3cm (3⁄4 to 11⁄8in) in all directions, which is where you will fix your tape pieces.
02 Tear off small sections of the paper tape that are approximately 1cm (1⁄2in) wide – the rough edges will add to the design – then stick these directly on the fabric on the points you marked in Step 1.
